We have pleasure in confirming that the
following have been awarded the 2007 AgriSeta Learnership
for the NATIONAL CERTIFICATE – POULTRY PRODUCTION - NQF
3 (SAQA QUAL ID 49578) to be held at the KZNPI.
*The
remaining 4 will be confirmed by the 31st August
2007.
There
were well over 300 enquiries, however only 250 applications
were received. Of these, 212 were able to meet the strict
criteria, of age, unemployment status, disadvantaged background,
education etc. The top 35 based on Maths and English marks
(due to literacy & numeracy comptencies) were short listed
and were assessed for numeracy, communication and computer
skills by LISA DREW CONSULTING and given a 1 on 1 interview
with the KZNPI panel of interviewers.
Those shown on the Learnership 2007 were
confirmed to be suitable and as such awarded the Learnership
contract
We are confident that we have selected
well-suited and deserving learners, of which 5 of the learners
are females. During the interviewing process, there were many
moments where the successful learners showed a tremendous
amount of determination, raw talent and potential waiting
to be tapped into and developed. In most cases the underlying
reason for their unemployment was lack of “work experience”
brought about not being able to afford the education or training
required for work skills or a suitable qualification. Thanks
to AgriSeta’s Learnership grant, SSACI funding (Swiss-South
African Co-operation Initiative), a partnership between KZNPI
and Rainbow Chicken Farms (Pty)Ltd, the Learnerhip can now
take place giving 25 young, bright disadvantaged people a
career opportunity. Potentially, these 25 aspirant poultry
farmers should help fill a serious skills shortage in the
industry, should add value to wherever they find themselves
employed, but just as important, should contribute to reducing
unemployment.
