The KZNPI is now offering this popular 5-day workshop as a correspondence course. This is ideal if you are thinking of starting a broiler or egg production unit but cannot take time off work, or are unable to travel to Pietermaritzburg. It is also beneficial if you are managing a poultry farm and would like to improve your profitability and understand the market better.
Learn how to do a feasibility study, write a business plan for a poultry farm, do a forecasted cash flow, work out monthly profit or loss, keep accurate production records and manage your finances. Find out if you have what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur and how to be proactive with marketing your products.
Applicants should have obtained Grade 11 or higher, be literate in English, be able to use a calculator and have some knowledge of Excel spreadsheets. Self-discipline is essential as you will be given modules to read and exercises to complete and hand in for assessment, all in your own time. An experienced facilitator will be on hand to assist with your queries. Templates of input prices and forecasted cash flows form part of the course material. Certificates will be presented on successful completion of the course.
