The KwaZulu-Natal Poultry Institute (KZNPI) is a private institute that provides training and mentoring support to people across Africa involved in poultry production at any level. Founded by a group of far-sighted poultry farmers back in 1992, we are based within the Bisley Valley Nature Reserve near Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
In 2004, both the KZNPI and its training material were proudly accredited with SAQA and AgriSETA. We facilitate a range of standard and custom-made short courses in specialist poultry topics and we can also offer the National Certificate in Poultry Production to NQF3 level. We work closely with South African Poultry Association in identifying and supporting the training needs of the local industry.
The courses are presented by well qualified facilitators who have many years of association with the South African poultry industry. Training is supported by audio-visual aids, notes, exercises and assignments. Practical sessions on the institute’s training farm are an integral part of the learning. For more information on the courses offered, visit the TRAINING AND SUPPORT page.
The KZNPI offers a complete “Stay and Learn” package. Simple, single bedroom / shared bathroom accommodation and full catering is available so delegates don’t have to worry about arranging a place to stay or daily transport to the course.
The Institute is also well equipped to host farmers’ days, seminars, product launches, information sessions and other events.
As a non-profit company, the KZNPI is governed by a Board of Directors who serve pro bono. The Institute’s annual financial statements are audited and a management committee meet monthly to oversee the day-to-day running of the Institute.
