The KwaZulu-Natal Poultry Institute (KZNPI) is a private poultry training facility in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. It was established in 1991 and is dedicated to training and mentoring people across Africa involved in all aspects of poultry farming. We train subsistence farmers, small-scale producers and the staff of large integrated companies as well as technical advisors to the poultry sector.
The Institute is accredited by the AgriSETA as a training provider. We are accredited for a General Education and Training Certificate in Poultry Production (NQF level 1) and a National Certificate in Poultry Production (NQF level 3) and our skills/short courses use material from these.
We use of the services of well-qualified and experienced subject matter experts for different aspects of our courses. Training is supported by audio-visual aids, notes, exercises and assignments. Practical sessions on the training farm are an integral part of the learning.
Our training facilities include lecture halls, a training farm equipped with broiler, layer, rearing and breeder houses, as well as a small hatchery. Delegates have the option of being accommodated at the KZNPI during their training in one of our three single-room residences
The KZNPI offers a range of short courses in the poultry production disciplines as well as in the peripheral skills of running a successful poultry enterprise. Short courses can also be customised to the clients’ needs
