The KZNPI is pleased to announce that our fully automated climate-controlled broiler house is up and running with the first batch of broilers.
The 1200 bird house was constructed through funding from the World Poultry Foundation and equipped with funding from Fancom facilitated by Director Brett van den Broeck of Dorna Distributers and we would like to express our sincere thanks to them. This house adds another wonderful training opportunity at the Poultry Institute as delegates can now get practical experience in a smaller version of a commercially relevant automated house. Complete with evaporative cooling pads and climate control, this will expose delegates to different housing options for broilers once on-site training is allowed to resume.
Farm manager Lindelihle Nxumalo was very happy to place the first batch of chicks in the house, which are currently growing very well.
