The KZN Poultry Institute is proud to congratulate the 24 delegates who successfully completed the three-day Biosecurity training programme held at our training facility in Pietermaritzburg from 06 to 08 July.
The course, attended by existing poultry farmers, was designed to strengthen practical knowledge and skills in implementing effective biosecurity measures on poultry farms. Upon successful completion of the programme, each delegate was awarded a certificate.
KZN Poultry Institute extends its sincere appreciation to the South African Poultry Association (SAPA) for initiating this valuable training and to AgriSETA for funding the programme. Their continued support contributes significantly to strengthening skills development within our poultry industry.
The course focuses on practical, on-farm biosecurity implementation, including:

Biosecurity remains one of the most critical components of successful poultry production. Effective biosecurity practices help prevent the introduction and spread of disease, improve flock health and productivity, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of poultry enterprises.
The value of the training was reflected in the positive feedback received from delegates.
One participant shared:
“You have helped equip me with skills that I did not know were the very core of my business.”
Another delegate commented:
“We also suffer from disease management. Now we know that prevention through biosecurity is the best practice.”

The Institute would also like to extend its sincere thanks to Mr Edwin Nzimande of Avipharm for taking the time to address the delegates and for his valuable assistance during the practical boot-cleaning demonstration. His contribution added practical insight to the training and reinforced the importance of applying biosecurity measures correctly on poultry farms.

The KZN Poultry Institute congratulates all 24 delegates on their completion of the training and commends their commitment to improving biosecurity standards within their farming operations. By investing in knowledge and practical skills, these poultry farmers are better equipped to protect their flocks, enhance production, and support a resilient and sustainable poultry industry.
